Chronicals of… a developer in Johannesburg

On a personal note:

I am getting married this weekend – 18th April 2009. I am very excited and I am sure that those of you who are married know just the feeling of being in a twilight zone.

We’re going to France and The Netherlands for honeymoon, holding thumbs that the weather will be kind to us! If not…. it is a honeymoon!

I found a pretty cool website the other day called Hayibo.com

It is South African and quite funny – very satirical website about our country. It has all the goodness of humour, wit, and irony. I actually even supported them by buying two of their books. When I get the books I will read them, then post about them.

What lead me to the first article was some Zuma related news.

I heard Gareth Cliff mention something that Jacob Zuma said yesterday. Gareth said something about Zuma speaking the the white Afrikaaners in his campaign.

He said that the Afrikaaners are the *only true white South Africans*. Something there about the only ones with one passport. I found the article, and it is true!

“Of all the white groups that are in South Africa, it is only the Afrikaners that are truly South Africans in the true sense of the word,” Zuma said.

Now I consider that a VERY racist statement – and I am offended, but what can we do. Our future president is on trial for fraud and corruption and that hasn’t stopped him.

What is this country coming to?

My advise to you: Don’t sell or buy from any Inspectacar. But if you really have to, keep the spare key until you have all of your money.

In February I droppped off my car so Inspectacar Midrand could sell it for me.

After about two weeks, just as I was about to take it somewhere else I got a call saying they had found a buyer, but he could only get bank finance for about 10% less than I wanted to sell the car for. Because it was getting quite urgent I decided to sell the car…

Had I known the hassle this has been I would have waited to sell my vehicle privately. They say that you will get your money within 7 days… 7 days.

I have been waiting a month so far. The classic line is “you will get your money Thursday, latest Friday”. Hellopeter has numerous complains from this *dealership*. Hellopeter

They say I will have my money tomorrow – I wont count on it. Luckily I have the car in my name, the spare keys, and the insurance and Tracker are still valid – I hope that Tracker doesn’t need to pay him a visit.

UPDATE:

The car was changed from my name on the 28th FEB! Even though Theo Small said that it wasn’t. This means that he had the money LONG ago.

I finally got paid on Sunday 4th April 2009. It took over 1 month to get the money.

Theo said he would pay my insurance for this month – claims he has transferred the money, but with his track record I doubt I will ever see it.

Edit (16 April): Still waiting for the R1000.

I think I got free money in my bank account – let’s see how this unfolds…
